Our 5th & 6th grades classes enjoyed an educational & fun-filled day at JA BizTown on March 7. After several weeks of preparation, the kids were so excited for this field trip, and after their bustling day at BizTown, they were not disappointed. Students filled various roles at their respective company – CEO, CFO, Marketing, and other staff positions depending on their company’s business. CEOs gave a speech at the town hall meeting, CFOs managed their company financials, and each team worked together making decisions on how to sell their product to be financially sound.
JA BizTown, a program which provides students with a realistic opportunity to experience how basic economic concepts are applied in the real world, is a local program from Junior Achievement USA®. By participating in JA BizTown, young students experience the responsibilities and opportunities of citizenship in a free enterprise system.
Junior Achievement USA® is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. Their mantra, “We empower young people to own their economic success.” was quite evident as several St. Catharine parent volunteers witnessed our kids working hard, learning, and having a good time while doing so.
