Battle of the Books

IMG_5076

Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in grades 7 and 8. Students read a prescribed list of approximately 60 books and assemble during their lunch recess time to demonstrate their knowledge of the books they have read. The format is generally based on an “In the Know” concept competition where questions asked are based on the books that have been read and the students compete by answering the questions with the title and author of the book.

Diocesan regional competitions between other Catholic schools who participate in the program are held in the late winter.  Depending on the points earned in the regional competition, students may qualify to advance to the final competition with other Catholic schools participating in this program.  The Diocesan school with the highest total points claims the title of winner in this “battle” with books.

Mrs. Stranges is the moderator of this program.
