St. Catharine Preschool is a Catholic early learning program, connected to St. Catharine School. We are proud to share that we have been awarded 5-stars in the state of Ohio’s Step Up to Quality rating system. Step Up to Quality is a rating system that awards one to five stars to learning and development programs that go above and beyond minimum licensing standards. Star ratings are awarded to programs that are committed to continuous improvement, the continuing education of teachers, the use of learning and development standards to support children’s learning, and valuing the relationship with families and community.
Our Philosophy: Love of God, Love of Learning, Love of Neighbor
Saint Catharine Preschool will strive to foster the wholeness of the individual child. Our goal is to have a safe, loving atmosphere where a child can develop a relationship with God, explore, and discover. Opportunities will be provided to use and share existing skills as well as learn new skills. These experiences help the child establish a positive self-esteem. We believe in the worth of each family; therefore, we seek collaboration and support from the family as we nurture the development of each child.
How does our program enhance the development of the whole child?
- Nourishes spiritual development
- Supports children in becoming active and confident learners.
- Focuses on children’s play.
- Responsive to children’s developmental needs and interests.
- Engages the child with interactive materials.
- Flexible in adapting to children’s learning needs and interests.
- Recognizes families as the child’s first teacher.
Our Religious Education Philosophy
The aim of St. Catharine’s religious program is to help develop Christian values and participate in our Catholic community and traditions. Religion is not a separate entity and is a part of all aspects of life. Therefore, religion is integrated with other subjects that teach appreciation and respect for all racial and ethnic groups, the values of peace and justice, and social awareness and moral responsibility. Religion must help the child relate to all people of our world, accepting their differences and appreciating their values as children of God. Families of all religious backgrounds are welcome to our program.
Our school is in session from late August to May. We offer a variety of programming that includes traditional half-day preschool as well as extended care options such as Lunch Bunch and Extended Day. For those families that need care on a consistent basis, your tuition will be a set price for the amount of days your child attends. In addition, we will allow for enrolled families to sign-up for “drop-in” care at an hourly rate (as long as space is available).
